Wedding & getaway cars

The wedding car you actually want

Not a black sedan from the airport counter. A car that shows up in the photos thirty years from now.

Quick answer

Drive865 rents enthusiast vehicles for East Tennessee weddings — getaway cars, photo cars, and groom's-side morning-of drivers. The most-booked wedding picks are the 2021 Toyota Supra Premium and the 2020 Subaru BRZ Limited. We hand the car off the day before or morning-of via contactless pickup at McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) or Pearson Springs Park in Maryville.

Which kind of wedding car are you booking?

There are three different things people mean when they say 'wedding car rental.' Worth being clear about which you're after, because the right answer is different for each.

The getaway car is what the couple drives off in after the reception. Usually short distance, hour or two of actual driving, often decorated. The photo car is what shows up in the formal portraits — it's a backdrop and a prop more than transportation. Two different needs, sometimes the same car. And then there's the groom's-side morning-of car, which is mostly an excuse to drive something fun on a day the schedule lets you.

Drive865's fleet works for all three. Where most rental fleets show up with a boring sedan, ours shows up with a car that earns its way into the wedding album.

What pairs well with what

The Supra is the photo car. Modern, dramatic, holds up in every lighting condition. It's the car your photographer will posed-portrait around because the lines work in any frame. It's also comfortable enough to actually drive the couple somewhere afterwards without it being a chore.

The BRZ is the practical pick. Sized right for a small wedding party stop, manual transmission if the groom wants to drive it himself, easy to park at venues that weren't designed for big cars. It photographs well without dominating the frame.

The 1994 MR2 GTS is the wildcard. Couples who want a JDM aesthetic, a film-shoot quality to the photos, or just something nobody else at the wedding will have rented — that's the car. Mid-engine, period-correct interior, gets a reaction every time.

  • Booking the day before lets the photographer use the car at golden hour the night before too
  • Friday–Sunday block is the common rental window; 3-day rentals get 15% off
  • Decorations are fine if they're tasteful and don't damage paint (no adhesive on body panels, no shoe polish on glass)
  • Pickup at TYS means out-of-town family can fly in and drive the wedding car themselves
  • Inquire early — wedding weekends book out the enthusiast fleet faster than any other use case

Logistics that matter

Most wedding rentals go Friday morning to Sunday morning. That covers the rehearsal dinner (use the car or not), photos the day before, the wedding itself, and the morning-after departure. Three days at our standard rates hits the multi-day discount and works out cheaper per day than a single-day rental.

Pickup is contactless at McGhee Tyson Airport or Pearson Springs Park. If your venue is somewhere unusual, message us in advance — we sometimes arrange direct delivery to event venues in the Knoxville/Maryville area.

The thing weddings stress us about most: weather. We can't help with rain. But every car in our fleet has been driven in plenty of rain and they all handle it fine. The Supra in particular is comfortable and confident wet or dry. If the forecast turns, the photos still get taken and the car still drives home.

Frequently asked questions

Can I decorate the car?

Tasteful, non-damaging decoration is fine. Removable ribbons, window markers that come off with glass cleaner, removable 'Just Married' magnets — all good. What's not okay: adhesive on paint, shoe polish on glass, anything that requires more than a normal car wash to remove.

Can the host deliver the car to the venue?

Sometimes. Direct venue delivery in the Knoxville/Maryville area is something we can arrange case-by-case. Message us with the venue and the timeline and we'll let you know.

What if it rains on the wedding day?

The car drives fine. The photos still get taken. Convertibles obviously become coupes for the day. We can't refund weather, but we also won't pretend rain is your problem to solve alone — message us and we'll work it out.

Do you have convertibles for top-down photos?

We rotate convertibles in and out of the fleet. Check the fleet page for current availability. The Supra and BRZ are both coupes, not convertibles — they photograph beautifully but they're not top-down.

How early should I book?

Wedding weekends — especially May, June, September, October — book out our enthusiast fleet 4–6 weeks ahead. Earlier is better. We don't oversell; once it's reserved, it's reserved.

Can someone other than the renter drive the car?

Yes, with an additional driver added in the booking. Both drivers need a valid license and insurance on file. It's a 60-second add in the wizard.

What about a getaway car for after the reception?

Same booking handles it. Most couples pick the car up the day before, use it for photos in the afternoon, then it sits at the venue overnight as the getaway car. One rental, three purposes.
