Contactless pickup, no counters

Drive865 does not operate rental counters. There is no Drive865 booth at McGhee Tyson Airport, no shuttle to an off-site lot six miles away, and no line waiting for a counter agent. Instead, your car is at the pickup point when you arrive, and you open it with a lockbox code sent the night before.

At TYS, the car is in Economy Lot C, Section Orange 1. Take the Economy Lot shuttle from baggage claim to Stop C-1A (the same shuttle the on-site rental companies use for overflow parking), and the car is a short walk from the stop. We send a photo of the exact parking spot once the car is in place. From baggage claim to ignition is typically under 10 minutes, with no wait at any point.

The same lockbox process applies at Maryville pickup and for arranged delivery. Code in your trip confirmation, key in the box, instructions on where to find the car. It works identically at 6am, midnight, or any time in between. There are no business hours tied to the handoff.

The East Tennessee service region

Drive865's coverage area radiates from McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Alcoa, covering Knoxville, Maryville, and the broader East Tennessee market. Guests flying in typically pick up at TYS; local residents often prefer Maryville pickup or arranged delivery to their address.

The region runs from Knoxville west to Farragut and Hardin Valley, south through Maryville and Alcoa, and into the Smokies corridor: Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Townsend. The location pages cover each of these areas individually because the pickup logistics, drive times to the main destinations, and vehicle context change depending on where your trip is centered.

If you're flying in for Tail of the Dragon, Cades Cove, or Cherohala Skyway, TYS pickup is the most practical starting point. The Dragon is about 85 miles from the airport; our Maryville lot gets you 15 minutes closer to the Smokies corridor without the TYS overhead.

Choosing between TYS, Maryville, and delivery

TYS pickup suits almost every fly-in guest. The car slots into any flight arrival without a rental car counter, secondary shuttle, or local contact. The process is the same at any hour. If you're flying into TYS and your first stop is the Smokies, TYS pickup followed by a drive south is the most direct path.

Maryville pickup is the right choice for local residents and guests whose first destination is south, toward Tail of the Dragon, Cades Cove, or Townsend. It saves the northbound detour to TYS and puts you pointed in the right direction from the start.

Arranged delivery adds flexibility for guests whose itinerary makes it inconvenient to reach either standard lot. We cover most of the Knoxville metro and the Smokies corridor for delivery. Availability and any delivery logistics vary by destination; inquire when booking. The lockbox handoff is the same either way: we drop the car, send the code and a placement photo, and you're on your way.

Frequently asked questions

Which pickup location is right for my trip?

If you're flying into McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS), TYS pickup is almost always the right choice: contactless, no wait, and the car is there when you land. If you're local to Maryville or Alcoa, or your trip heads south toward the Smokies first, Maryville pickup saves the detour. If neither works logistically, inquire about arranged delivery. We cover most of the Knoxville metro and Smokies corridor.

Can I return the car to a different location than I picked up?

One-way rentals within the Drive865 service area are available on request. Contact us before booking to confirm. We don't offer open-ended one-way drop-offs. TYS-to-TYS and same-lot returns are standard. Different-location returns need to be coordinated at booking rather than on the day.

Can I pick up or drop off outside of business hours?

Yes. The lockbox process is not tied to business hours. The car can be picked up any time after the agreed handoff time and returned any time before the rental window closes. We ask for a brief photo confirmation on return sent through the trip communication channel. The process is the same at noon or midnight.

How far in advance should I book to guarantee my preferred car?

For specific vehicles during peak season (April–October), 1–3 weeks in advance is the practical minimum. For last-minute trips, text or email directly. We can often confirm same-day or next-day availability faster than the online booking flow. Off-peak, availability is more flexible, but the most popular vehicles still move on weekend dates.

Do you offer delivery to hotels, vacation rentals, or specific addresses?

Yes, for locations within the service area: most of the Knoxville metro and the Smokies corridor including Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Townsend. Delivery logistics and any fees vary by location; inquire at booking. The lockbox handoff process is the same: we drop the car, send a code and placement photo, and you drive from there.
