Car rental for Dollywood

McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Alcoa is the closest commercial airport to Dollywood — about 55 miles by the most direct route. From TYS, the fastest way to Pigeon Forge varies by time of day. During off-peak hours, US-411 through Sevierville is straightforward. During peak summer and fall weekend traffic, US-321 through Townsend adds 5 miles but avoids the Sevierville corridor and is often faster.

Dollywood's main entrance is at 2700 Dollywood Parks Blvd. Parking is in large dedicated lots and is priced by category (standard, preferred, VIP). The Dollywood lot easily accommodates minivans and standard-length vehicles. The 12-passenger NV Passenger also fits, but expect to park further out in oversized vehicle areas.

If kids are the primary audience: the Odyssey Sport. Seven comfortable seats, sliding rear doors for easy entry and exit in a parking lot, a real cargo hold for the stroller and backpacks, and a quiet highway ride that doesn't exhaust everyone before the park opens.

If it's a group of 8–12 adults or mixed families: the Nissan NV Passenger holds twelve. It's a full-size passenger van and it makes the logistics of moving a large group straightforward.

If Dollywood is just the anchor and you're also planning Cades Cove, the Foothills Parkway, or the Dragon: rent the car that fits the driving ambitions and plan to be slightly cramped for the park visit. The FJ Cruiser works well for a couple or small group adding Smoky Mountain driving to the plan. The Supra works for two adults who want the dramatic car and are using Dollywood as one day of a longer trip.

Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge, which sits at the entrance to the Smokies corridor. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance at Gatlinburg is about 15 minutes from Pigeon Forge. Cades Cove is 45 minutes by the Townsend route. The Foothills Parkway western section — the best scenic drive in the region — is 40 minutes away and almost no tourists do it, making it a reliable quiet option even on peak fall weekends.

For guests who've been to Dollywood and want something more active: Cades Cove at sunrise is the best East Tennessee experience available within an hour of Pigeon Forge. The drive back on US-321 through the foothills is excellent in any car.
