McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Alcoa is the closest commercial airport to Dollywood, about 55 miles by the most direct route. From TYS, the fastest way to Pigeon Forge varies by time of day. During off-peak hours, US-411 through Sevierville is straightforward. During peak summer and fall weekend traffic, US-321 through Townsend adds 5 miles but avoids the Sevierville corridor and is often faster.
What else to do near Dollywood
Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge, which sits at the entrance to the Smokies corridor. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance at Gatlinburg is about 15 minutes from Pigeon Forge. Cades Cove is 45 minutes by the Townsend route. The Foothills Parkway western section, the best scenic drive in the region, is 40 minutes away and almost no tourists do it, making it a reliable quiet option even on peak fall weekends.
