Top down, windows down, somewhere in Blount County

The Miata is the bachelorette convertible. It's not subtle about it — two seats, soft top, a road through the Blount County foothills at 10am on a Saturday with the top down. The person in the passenger seat can't look at their phone. The road is three feet away. That's the car.

The Supra is for the arrival. If the group is going somewhere — a restaurant in Maryville, a Gatlinburg resort, a winery — the bride arrives in the Supra. 382hp, exhaust note, pulls into the parking lot and the whole group stops. It's a two-seater with a snug rear shelf. Pair it with the Odyssey for the group.

The Odyssey does the group logistics. Seven seats, easy highway driving, fits luggage for an overnight bachelorette trip to the Smokies area. If the group is 6–8 people, the format that works is Odyssey for most of the group, Miata or Supra for the bride and her person. Nobody is cramped, everyone gets somewhere, and the car situation doesn't become the story of the trip.

Blount County is the least-touristed part of the Great Smoky Mountains corridor — the stretch between Maryville and Townsend has actual Tennessee countryside rather than the Pigeon Forge commercial strip. The road from Maryville down US-321 to Townsend takes you past small farms, roadside stands, and the last stretch of two-lane before the national park entrance. It's a pleasant drive in anything, but top-down in the Miata it's a different thing.

The Foothills Parkway west section (Walland entrance, about 30 minutes from Maryville pickup) is 17 miles of ridge-top two-lane with uninterrupted Smoky Mountain views. No traffic lights, no stop signs, pull-offs for photos. It's the best short scenic drive in the region for a bachelorette party that wants a memorable route without a 90-minute drive.

East Tennessee doesn't have concentrated wine country, but Smoky Mountain Winery in Gatlinburg and several Blount County operations exist. A Foothills Parkway run in the morning followed by a Gatlinburg or downtown Maryville afternoon works for a bachelorette itinerary that mixes the car experience with a destination.

A group of 8 with one sports car is the wrong math. You end up with one person having the car experience and seven people in someone else's regular SUV, which isn't worth booking Drive865. The format that works: bride and maid of honor in the Miata or Supra, the rest of the group in the Odyssey or NV Passenger. Two bookings, two drivers, actual car experience for at least two people.
