East Tennessee // Honest gap

We don't rent Ferraris. Nobody in East TN does.

The Supra is our halo. It's an excellent car. It is not a Ferrari and we won't pretend otherwise.

There's no version of this substitution where a Toyota Supra is a Ferrari equivalent. Ferraris are hand-assembled at Maranello, produce 500–800+ hp from naturally aspirated or forced-induction engines tuned to within an inch of their lives, and carry decades of Formula 1 heritage. The Supra is a genuinely excellent sports car co-developed by Toyota and BMW with 382 hp. It's a different universe. We recommend the Supra because it's the most interesting and capable car we have, and for East Tennessee's mountain roads, it's entirely appropriate. It is not a substitute for the Ferrari experience.

The Supra on the Dragon vs a Ferrari on the Dragon

Tail of the Dragon's speed limit is 30 mph. It's enforced by state troopers and photographed constantly by enthusiasts. A Ferrari at 30 mph on US-129 is a car operating at approximately 5% of its capability while being watched by 50 people. The result is technically impressive and viscerally underwhelming — you're driving what might be the world's most capable road car at walking pace.

The Supra at 30 mph on the Dragon is operating at about 60% of its capability — you're on the edge of its competence on the tightest corners, using the chassis balance and the turbo delivery to navigate corners cleanly. It's engaging rather than theatrical.

We're not saying this to suggest the Supra is a better car than a Ferrari. It isn't. We're saying it because the Dragon's speed limit makes the gap between a 382-hp Supra and a 660-hp Ferrari irrelevant to the actual driving experience.

Finding a Ferrari in East Tennessee

Turo is the only realistic platform for Ferrari rentals in East Tennessee. Private owners of 488s, F8s, and occasionally 458s appear on Turo in Nashville (the nearest market with consistent exotic car listings). Knoxville proper has very few exotic car Turo listings. Expect significant advance booking requirements and comprehensive insurance conversations.

Exotic car rental agencies in Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte offer Ferrari rentals on a more structured basis — day rates are typically $1,500–$3,500+, with strict mileage caps. Factor the drive time from those cities to East Tennessee's roads when planning.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Supra the fastest car you rent?

Yes — the Supra's 382 hp and 3.9-second 0-60 make it the outright performance leader in our fleet. The WRX STI (310 hp AWD) is competitive in traction-limited conditions.

Is there a Ferrari on Turo in East Tennessee?

Very rarely — and even Nashville (the nearest major market) has limited exotic car inventory on Turo. Exotic car rental agencies are a more structured path for Ferrari rentals.

Is the Supra worth renting if I wanted a Ferrari?

If you're flexible on the specific experience and want the best car we have for East Tennessee's mountain roads — yes, the Supra is excellent. If the Ferrari experience (sound, speed, badge, sensation) is the irreplaceable part of the plan — no, the Supra won't satisfy that.

What other cars do you have at Drive865?

BRZ, Supra, MR2 GTS (the most exotic in character), WRX STI, WRX GT, Miata convertible, FJ Cruiser Trail Teams, Civic Sport Touring, Odyssey Sport, and NV Passenger. None are Ferraris.

Can the Dragon be driven in a Ferrari?

Yes — and Drive865 doesn't restrict what road you take our cars on. The Dragon at 30 mph in any capable car is an excellent experience. But booking a Ferrari rental specifically for the Dragon is expensive for an experience that a well-tuned sports car delivers at 7/10ths anyway.

Can I pick this up if I'm staying in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge?

Yes. Our pickup is near TYS in Maryville/Alcoa. From Gatlinburg it's about 50 minutes; from Pigeon Forge or Sevierville it's 40–45 minutes.
