Bachelor party — East TN
Everyone drives something real
The Dragon is 318 curves in 11 miles. The Cherohala Skyway is 43 miles of ridge with nobody on it. Either way, everyone needs their own car.
Quick answer
Drive865 is the East Tennessee bachelor party car rental — multiple cars rented for a group driving day on the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway, or both. Everyone picks their own vehicle and drives themselves. Or the groom gets the Supra and everyone else figures it out. Either approach works. Honest note: our sports cars seat 2–4, so a group of 8 needs multiple cars or a mix of a van and a hero car. Pickup at TYS or Maryville.

The format: everyone drives, or one hero car
There are two ways bachelor parties work with our fleet, and which one you pick depends on the group.
The driving group: four to eight guys, all want to drive, the whole point is a day on the Dragon or Cherohala where each person is behind the wheel of something they'd never rent otherwise. Rent the Supra, the STI, the BRZ, the MR2 as a convoy. Everyone drives their own car. You rotate if you want mid-day. It's a driving day, not a shuttle.
The groom gets the car: one hero vehicle — usually the Supra or STI — that the groom drives. The rest of the group coordinates their own transport. Could be a mix: groom in the Supra, the rest in the NV Passenger or a separate vehicle. This works when not everyone in the group is there for the driving specifically.
The roads that make it worth it
Deals Gap — The Dragon — is 318 curves in 11 miles. It's on the North Carolina/Tennessee border, about 45 minutes from Maryville. It's a legitimate driving road, not a scenic route. Motorcycles, sports cars, and track-day regulars make the run every weekend. Come on a weekday morning and you'll have stretches to yourself. Come on a Saturday and you'll be in a convoy. Either way, it's the most technically demanding public road in the Southeast.
The Cherohala Skyway is the better-kept secret. 43 miles of two-lane from Tellico Plains to Robbinsville, running along a ridge at 5,000 feet. No stop signs, no traffic lights, minimal traffic except on peak fall weekends. It's the better long-haul driving road — less technical than the Dragon but more reward per mile. A convoy run of the full Cherohala takes about two hours of driving time, with pull-offs for views whenever you want.
The combination day — Dragon in the morning, Cherohala back to back — is about 90 miles of excellent road and a full day. Most groups add lunch in Robbinsville or at the Tail of the Dragon resort area. Unlimited mileage is worth it for this route.
- Deals Gap: 318 curves, 11 miles, TN/NC border, 45 min from Maryville
- Cherohala Skyway: 43 miles ridge road, Tellico Plains to Robbinsville
- Foothills Parkway west: 17 miles, easier pace, great view, good warmup
- Combination day Dragon + Cherohala: ~90 miles of quality road
- Unlimited mileage add-on recommended if doing the full day route
Planning the group honestly
If your group is 8+ people, you either need multiple cars (which means multiple bookings and everyone driving) or a van plus a hero car. The NV Passenger fits 12 — you can have one person as the designated driver while the groom and one or two others take sports cars and the rest ride in the van. It's not the most exciting setup for the van passengers, but it's better than cramming 8 people into three 2-seat sports cars.
Be honest with yourself about the driving experience in the group. The Dragon and Cherohala are genuinely challenging roads. Someone who's never driven a rear-wheel-drive car on a mountain road in a low-traction situation is a liability to themselves and everyone else. The WRX GT (AWD, manual) or WRX STI (AWD, manual) are the most forgiving sports cars in the fleet for mixed-experience groups. The MR2 is the least forgiving.
Coordinate pickup times. If four people are renting four cars, they can't all pick up from the same lockbox at the same time without planning it. TYS lockbox pickup is contactless but you need to be organized about the sequence. Or pick up at Maryville where logistics are more flexible.

Frequently asked questions
Can we rent multiple cars for a bachelor party group?
Yes. Book each car separately through the fleet. Multiple bookings for the same dates are fine. If you want to coordinate a group booking or ask about multi-car rates, message us in advance.
Does every person in the group need to be a named driver?
Every person who drives a car needs to be the primary driver on that car's booking or be added as an additional driver. You can't have one person book all the cars and let everyone else drive — each car needs its actual driver documented.
What's the most beginner-friendly car for someone who wants to try the Dragon?
The WRX GT or WRX STI. AWD means more forgiveness on tight corners, and the manual gearbox gives the engagement without the tail-happiness of RWD. The MR2 and Miata are mid- and rear-wheel-drive — rewarding but less forgiving for newer drivers. The Supra is automatic and AWD-adjacent confident, though it's RWD at its core.
Can we run the Dragon and Cherohala in the same day?
Yes, and it's a common combination. Dragon in the morning, Cherohala in the afternoon — about 90 miles of excellent road total. Plan for a full day, add unlimited mileage to your booking, and bring lunch because the stops between are limited.
What if someone in the group isn't into driving and just wants to be a passenger?
Add them as a passenger in one of the cars, or put non-driving members in the NV Passenger with a designated driver. Mixing sports cars and a van is a legitimate group strategy if not everyone wants to drive.
Is there a minimum group size for a bachelor party booking?
No. One guy and the groom in a single car is a perfectly valid use of this page. The bachelor party framing just means you're here for a driving experience, not for a sedan to get to a hotel.
Are there roads near Knoxville that don't require an hour of driving to reach?
The Foothills Parkway west section (Walland/Maryville) is 17 miles of quality two-lane ridge road — 20 minutes from our Maryville pickup point. It's not the Dragon, but it's a legitimate warmup road for a group with mixed experience levels before you head south.
