Fountain City is one of Knoxville's older north-side neighborhoods — once its own incorporated community before being absorbed into the city in the mid-20th century. It has the character of a neighborhood with institutional memory: Fountain City Park with its small lake, the Broadway/Emory Road commercial corridor, established residential streets with mature trees. The people who live here use Drive865 for the same reasons as every other Knoxville neighborhood.

The pickup logistics from Fountain City are straightforward but longer than from the south and west Knox corridors. TYS is 35 minutes south via Broadway and US-441 or via I-640 and I-75 south. Maryville is 40 minutes. The extra 15 minutes compared to a Farragut or Cedar Bluff address doesn't change the fleet availability or rental experience — it just means you factor in the pickup drive.

One advantage unique to Fountain City: Norris Lake is 30 minutes north on US-441. If your Drive865 trip involves Norris Lake camping, a lake house visit, or a scenic run through Anderson County, you're starting from the closest Knoxville point to that destination.

The classic Fountain City day trip south: take I-640 or US-441 to I-75 south, down toward Maryville, then pick the route — US-321 to Townsend and Cades Cove (70 minutes total) or US-129 to Deals Gap (100 minutes). Both are achievable day trips from Fountain City with a start by 8am. Add unlimited mileage if you're doing the Dragon.

Norris Lake north: US-441 north through Powell and into Anderson County. The area around Norris Dam State Park is rolling and rural — good roads in an FJ Cruiser or the WRX GT. Norris Lake is a Tennessee Valley Authority reservoir with clean water and good fishing — the FJ Cruiser on Norris Lake access roads is the most natural pairing in the fleet.

The Civic is the Fountain City resident's everyday upgrade: fuel-efficient, sporty enough, practical. For a quick car swap for a long drive to Nashville or a Knoxville-to-Charlotte trip, the Civic is the practical choice from any Knoxville address including Fountain City.

The most direct route from Fountain City to TYS: take I-640 west to I-75 south, follow I-75 south to I-40 west, then I-140 south to TYS. About 35 minutes with normal traffic. An alternative: Broadway (US-441) south to downtown Knoxville, then US-441 south toward Maryville — slightly longer but more straightforward for drivers who prefer surface streets.

For Maryville pickup: US-441 south from Fountain City through downtown Knoxville continues toward Maryville as US-411 — about 40 minutes straight down. This is the simplest single-road route from north Knoxville to the Maryville pickup without any highway navigation.
