The LC 500 is a grand tourer — naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 (471 hp), lush interior, comfortable long-distance character, dramatic proportions. It's a car for the highway as much as the curves. The Supra is a sports car — turbocharged, lighter, BMW-tuned chassis focused on corner communication. Both are premium Japanese sports cars; the Supra is the more track-focused tool. For East Tennessee's mountain roads, the Supra's sports car character is the better fit.

The Lexus LC 500 is one of the most beautiful production cars in the world, and its naturally aspirated V8 is one of the last great high-revving sports car engines. For a scenic grand touring trip — highway miles, long sweepers, comfortable seats for the full day — the LC would be the ideal rental if it existed in the market.
For Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway's technical mountain driving, the LC's 4,200-pound weight works against it. The Supra's 800-pound advantage and BMW-tuned chassis make it the better technical tool for these specific roads.
Where to find an LC 500 in East Tennessee
LC 500 rentals are nearly nonexistent on any platform — they're too valuable and too rare for most rental markets. Turo is the only realistic path; private owners occasionally list them, but it's uncommon in the Knoxville area. If the LC 500 experience is specifically what you're after, you may need to travel to a larger market (Nashville, Atlanta) to find one.

Very good — the A90 Supra uses BMW-quality materials because of the co-development. It's not Lexus-grade interior luxury, but it's a step above most sports cars in its class.
Can I pick this up if I'm staying in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge?
Yes. Our pickup is near TYS in Maryville/Alcoa. From Gatlinburg it's about 50 minutes; from Pigeon Forge or Sevierville it's 40–45 minutes.
