We're not going to dress up the FJ Cruiser as a Range Rover substitute on interior luxury. The Range Rover's air suspension, leather interior, panoramic glass, and Terrain Response system are genuinely different from what we offer — and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
What the FJ offers is the capability side of the Range Rover brief without the luxury wrapper. For East Tennessee's roads — Cades Cove, forest service tracks, Smoky Mountain approaches — the FJ Trail Teams with its rear locker and all-terrain tires is the right tool. On the paved scenic routes, the FJ is also more comfortable than you'd expect from its adventure heritage.
Finding a Range Rover in East Tennessee
Turo is the realistic path for a Range Rover rental in East Tennessee — private owners of Discovery, Defender, and Range Rover Sport models occasionally list them in the Knoxville and Nashville area. Availability is limited and the booking process for a luxury vehicle is more complex than a standard rental. For planned trips, check availability well in advance.
National chains at TYS don't carry Range Rovers. Luxury car rental agencies in Nashville and Atlanta are options for guests willing to fly or drive to a larger market.

Our Odyssey Sport seats seven and is comfortable, but it's a minivan, not a luxury SUV. For a luxury large SUV experience, Turo or a Nashville luxury rental agency is the honest resource.
Is the FJ Cruiser comfortable on long highway drives?
More so than its adventure heritage suggests. The 4.0L V6 is quiet at highway speed and the FJ rides reasonably well on the long run from TYS to the Smokies. It's not Range Rover comfort, but it's not rough.
Why is the Range Rover considered unreliable?
JLR products (Land Rover / Range Rover) have historically ranked lower on reliability surveys than Japanese competitors. Modern Range Rovers are significantly improved but their maintenance complexity remains high. The FJ Cruiser's 4.0L 1GR-FE is one of the most reliable engines Toyota makes.
Can I pick this up if I'm staying in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge?
Yes. Our pickup is near TYS in Maryville/Alcoa. From Gatlinburg it's about 50 minutes; from Pigeon Forge or Sevierville it's 40–45 minutes.
